♦ CLtt-iE and Apoon Fa ie. — In aid of the Trinity Church Building Improvement ;Fund, a cake and apron fear will beiheld in Trinity Hall, Manchester street, on Monday and Tuesday, Dec 8 and 9. A doll competition, for which special prizes are given, is a feature of interest. The childrenlwill be well entertained witfc a Christmas tree. Refreshments will ibe provided at a small charge. ICusic willfce given at intervals, the Septette Band bei^g I engaged for Monday evening. Admission ' will be G£, but children in chae£« of older persons will be admitted free. Madame Burton. — The electiaaß being ."ocrer, numbers of people who have hitherto been prevented from hearing fcke celebrated English contralto will have an opportunity cf doing so. The repertoire of the company seems inexhaustible. Another new programme will be presented to-night, when Madame Burton will sing Giordeni's aria* "Canst Thou Beliera?" and Cowen's song, "The Better Laad." Miss Cdbourne-Baber will repeat Gounod's " Ave Maria," which was enthusiastically received on Wednesday evening ; and the instrumental numbers mil include a grand duet from "La Somnambala ; which will be performed by Messrs Pouseard and Bradley,
