FOUND DROWNED.
About nine o'clock this morning some boys saw the body of a woman floating in the Avon near Burwood — between Richmond and New Brighton. They told Mr Ernest Inwood, who took the body out of the water, and iaforined Constable Stunner. The constable removed the corpse to the Hospital, where it was identified by one of the nurses as that of a former patient. It was somewhat decomposed, and in the pocket of the dress was an account for treatment at the Hospital in November and December of last year, made out in the name of Charlotte Leech. A girl of that name was treated in the Hospital at the time mentioned for an affection of the throat. It may be noted that ten days ago a woman's hat, gloves and cape were found on the river bank near Professor Bickerton's house.
An inquest was summoned for two o'clock this afternoon, but was adjourned till Saturday, to enable the police to institute necessary enquiries. /
