The Chairman said this was not the only case •of the kind. The following resolution was •passed :— " That the Board disapproves of teachers taking an active prominent part iin election matters." j HUMANE SOCIETY. j At a meeting of the City Council last night, Eobort Moore, a well-known local man, was presented with the bronze medal and certificate of the Royal Humane Society for having rescued Alfred Johnstone from drowning in December last. The certificate of the same Society was also given to Thomas Brown, a waterman, for the rescue of a little girl named Mary "Ethel Thomas from drowning in November last year.
