GENERAL ELECTIONS.
Kaiapoi People's Political Association, A meeting of this Society was held on Friday night in the Druids' Hall; Mr Drabble (President) in the chair. About twenty were present. The delegates appointed to visit Bangiora reported that they had met Mr Hoban there, and had heard his opinions expressed on the various planks of the platform adopted by the Association. His replies, as reported, were considered satisfactory. It was resolved to issue ballot papers to all members, to ascertain which candidate they would support at the coming election, the ballot papers to be returned to the Secretary by Wednesday night next. It was resolved to invite Mr Hoban to meet the members of the Labour Union to-morrow night. Mr John Joyce announces that lie is a candidate for the Banks Peninsula-cum-Lyttelton seat. His address to the electors is advertised in this issue. .A largely - attended meeting of Mr Tanner's Committee was held at the Committee room. Parish street, Ashbourne, on Friday evening. Eepresentatives from all parts of the electorate were present, and reported that the variouß sub-committees were in working order. Subscriptions were handed in toward defraying the cost of the campaign. Arrangements were made for a public meeting to be held at Heathcote valley and other business transacted.
