Dunedin Harbour Board.
♦ [Pee Pbebs Association.] DUNEDIN, Sept. 25. At a meeting of the Harbour Board today, it was stated that the Western Australian authorities were in communication with the Board re the purchase of the big dredge which had just returned from Melbourne. It was decided to post up the provisions in the by-laws re obstructing traffic, &c, on the wharves, bo as to brinp them under the notice of the public, as there was an evident impression that everyone had a full right to assemble on the wharves, which were under the control of the Board. The Acting-Chairman said he learned from men on board the steamers that Dunedin was the only port in the Colony where adequate provision had not been made to protect free labourers going to and from work. It was decided to set the big dredge to deepen the lately formed channel in the lower harbour tp twentyfour feet at low water, and make it uniform with the depth on the bar.
