Mr T. H. Green's Funkral. — Despite the short notice given, a large number of people assembled yesterday at the house of the lato Mr Green, and followed his remains to the Linwood Cemetery, where the funeral rites were performed by the Yen Archdeacon Lingard. Old College Boys' Gathering. — Old Christ's College boys who wish to take part in the gathering proposed to be held on the evening of Oct. 9, the day of the College sports, are requested to send in their names to Mr E. E. Webb, Merivale, at an early date, to enable arrangements to be made which, when complete, will h& notified in the daily papers. Canterbury Employers' Association. — The Executive of the Canterbury Employers' Association met yesterday afternoon at their rooms in Hereford street. There was a full attendance. A large number of new members were elected. The question of the proposed conference on the present labour troubles is now being discussed with the Employers' Associations in other places, and it is expected that a decision will be come to in a day or so. Canterbury Horse Parade. — A large number of entries have been received for the Canterbury A. and P. Association's annual horse parade on Saturday next. It is expected that the total will be quite as large aa that of last year's parade, at; which there were seventy-two entries. Mr H. Dalgeish's newly imported carriage entire, Nobleman, which has excited considerable attention as being a good representative of a class of horse much needed in the Colony, has been entered for the parade. "Les Cloches de Corneville." — The revival of the popular opera Les Cloches de Cori^ville by the Chrißtchurch Amateur Opera Company, at reduced prices, proved succeEsful last night, and the piece went splendidly throughout. To-night is positively the last night of the performance, and those who have not seen it should avail themselves of the opportunity afforded. A late train on the Lyttelton line will enable residents of the maritime borough to return home on conclusion of the performance. Cricket. — The United Cricket Club will open the season at Hagley Park tomorrow, when the eleven of last year will play the rest of the Club. The following represent the Eleven : — Harman (3), Longden, Hautland, Mafchias, Cotterill, •Rolleston, Black, Eoss, Aldred. The eleven take the field, and play commences at 2.15 p.m. sharp. All new members aro invited to attend.— The Ashley County Cricket Club play their opening game of the season to-morrow, commencing at halfpast one. Hospital Saturday. — The contents of one thousand of the boxes used on Hospital Saturday for the purposes of the hospital collection in London were counted one day recently, when the contributions were found to amount to .£2450, or £700 more than was obtained from the localities in which these boxes were placed laßtyear. The amounts in the remaining boxes have yet to be ascertained. The ,£2450 was thus made vp :— Gold, or .£l2O more than in 1889; silver, £1365, or £360 more; bronza coin, an increase of JE24O; aud bank notes .£ls. The bronze coiu weighed over two tonß. Dog Show. — A well-attended meeting of the Dog Show Committee was held in Warner's Hotel la6t evening, Mr E. P. Dombrain in the chair. The Secretary reported that he had received a letter from Mr J. C. Coupe, of Melbourne, regretting hi 3 inability to come over and judge at the forthcoming Dog Show. The election of judges was adjourned to next meeting. A letter was read from Wellington promieing support, and the reports from other parts of the Colony were also most encouraging. Several special prizes were announced, and after some routine business had been transacted the meeting adjourned to next Thursday. The Governor's Movements. — His Excellency the Governor visited the Lincoln Agricultural School yesterday. Hiß Excellency left Chriatchurch at 9 a.m., accompanied by Mr P. de C. Malet (Chair* man of the Governors of Canterbury College), the Hon W. Reeves, Mr E. Weatcnra and Mr F. D. S. Neave (Governors). Passing through Prebbleton the children of the Government school, to the number of about a hundred, were drawn up to salute the Governor, and under the superintendence of the head master and the Rev W. Knowles, sang the National Anthem with great effect. The Governor, on arrival at the school, inspected the farm buildings, the stock, plantations and orchards, and then drove round the farm, finishing up with the main building and its contents, with all of which he was pleased to express his complete satisfaction. Lord Onalow, after luncheon, paid a visit, in company with Mr J. Anderson (President of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association) and Mr T. Acland, to one or two of the model farms in the neighbourhood . A meeting of the Amalgamated Labour Unbu will be held to-morrow evening in the Trades Hill.
