Lyttelton.
The weather in Port to-day is simply beautiful, a clear sky, bright sun and hardly a breath of wind to disturb the waters of the harbour. About two hundred and ! thirty men were brought to Lyttelton this forenoon to assist in loading and dischargi iogr the cargoes, and, although there are i only, comparatively speaking, a few , vessels in Port, they are well nigh all ! employed.- This is not including the fifty- .' three or so men who are " constant" hands | of the Railway Department. The Te Anau - arrived shortly after 11 a.m. from southern ! ports and commenced to land her merj chandiße. The four-masted Bhip Silberhorn j was putting out' ballast during the forenoon, while the Knight of St Michael and j America were both loading produce. The j E.M.S.S. Tongariro was receiving coal ex I Brunner, this work being done by her | crew, while she was also taking in her , outward freight from the trucks. The Devonport was landing 3Ugar, and the Lady Mabel was transhipping coal, while at the Gladstone pier the Helen Denny was putting out her London cargo.
