[FBOM OUB BPECIAII CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Jtjly 20. THE FEDERAL CONFERENCE. Government will have to propose in a day or two the names of five delegates to represent New Zealand at the Federal Conference in Australia next year. Certain | newspapers have stated that Sir John Hall, Captain Russell, and Messrs Ballance, Bryce, Walker or Lance are the chosen men; but I am assured on the highest authority that it is absolutely untrue that any names have been settled. PANGEROUBLY ILL. Mrs Valentine was etill dangerously ill at midday to-day. . A DISTRICT DIVORCE BILL. Mr Walker's Bill for amending the Hospitals and Charitable Aid Act is a document which will have the support of the members for Ashburton, Waimate, Manawatu, Patea, Wanganui, Wairarapa, and the counties adjacent; which means that the Bill proposes to divide these districts off from the charitable aid districts which they at present are married to against their will. It is a divorce which these gentlemen have been petitioning for during many yean. After the divorce the Hospital Boardß of the districts named are to be elevated into the position of Charitable Aid Boards as well.
