The Players, at the close of the day's play, had lost four wickets for 322 runs, Chatterton 16, Barnes a faultless 67, Peel not out 8, Gunn not out 147. Gunn was at the wickets all day, and only gave one chance, and that not till he had passed the century. Six bowlers were tried, but the Nottingham professional completely mastered them all.
