THE WELLINGTN TRAMWAYS.
STBIKE OF THE EMPLOYEES. [Pan Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 19. The Federated Butchers' Union now numbers one hundred, and as many more have promised to join. WELLINGTON, June 19. The Tramway Company have run a twenty-minutes service to-day instead of the usual ten-minutes service, and traffic has been confined to the through route via Cuba street, the Courtenay Place line having for the time been withdrawn. The Company found some difficulty in engaging guards, but the difficulty was overcome by the assistance of sons of the proprietors. During the day there has been a good deal of chaff, and badinage has been indulged in by those on strike ; but nothing approaching a demonstration was made. Between five and six o'clock this evening, the expressmen, with a view of evincing their sympathy with the strikers, were conveying passengers free of charge from town to the tram terminus at Newtown. BAILWAY COMMISSIONEES. The Bailway Commissioners were unable to give an answer to the delegates to-day, as the printing of the report waß not finished. It is expected to be ready to-morrow, and a final interview will take place in the afternoon/ The delegates will not be able to retnrn till Sunday instead of to-morrow as intended. June 20. Further d-lay has taken place, and the Commissioners' answer to the Bailway delegates will not be given until to-morrow morning.
