Porter, of the New Zealand Militia, has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. . The following scale of rates comes into operation en the New Zealand Railways on and after May 12: — Newspaper parcels not exceeding 31b in weight will be charged for distances not over 75 miles Id, over 75 mile 9 and not exceeding 150 miles 2d, over 150 milas 3d.
