THE SWEATING COMMISSION.
[Per Pbess Association.] WELLINGTON, Apbil 22. Before the Sweating Commission a subcontractor asked for protection, stating that it frequently happened that after doing their work there was not sufficient money coming to the contractor to enable him to pay the sub-contractors. It was suggested that the matter be brought within the scope of the Workmen's Wages Act, 80 that sub-contractors could be paid •weekly. The witness accepted a suggestion to consult his fellow sub-con-tractors, and endeavour to msMo the proposal to others.
