The first inter-club matches of the season were commenced on Saturday. At Lancaster Park Christchurch, forthe firat time since the season of 1884, defeated East Christchurch ; at Sydenham the home team went down before Merivale; and at Chrii-t's College Addington won by a large margin. D. tailß : —
