WELLINGTON, April 19.
Dr Maurice Chilton, formerly House Surgeon of the Wellington Hospital, died suddenly at Havelock (Marlborough), where he had been practising for some months past. Death was attributed to heart disease.
[Dr Chilton was in charge of the Christchurch Hospital some ten years ago.]
DUNEDIN, April 20.
Up to the very closing the Exhibition, passed off without any serious accident in connection with it ; but one occurred at the eleventh hour. Mrs Wingfield, wife of a well-known pig dealer, was run over by an aerated water-cart just after Bhe came ont of the Exhibition, and diedduring the night.
Theatre Boyal. — There was a capital house at the Theatre Eoyal, on Saturdayevening to witness the performance of La. Mascotte by Williamson, Garner and Masgrove's Opera Company. The piece went exceedingly well, and the audience showed their approval by hearty applause, and several encoreß. This evening the Company will produce Gilbert and Sullivan's Princess Ida, for the first time in Christchurch.
