Lectors on Fiji. — The Eev J. P Chapman, Fijian missionary, delivered amost interesting lecture on Fiji and missionary life there, on Wednesday evening, in the Ashburton Wesleyan Chapel. The attendance was not by any means so great aa tho merit of the lecture. Eueux. Union. — An adjourned meetingof the Committee 'was held at the Commercial Hotel yesterday afternoon. Dr Moor house presided, and there were present Messrs E. L. Knight, W. G. CottenilUW. G. Garrard, F. D. Kesteven, G. H. Mason, and W. Johnston. Mr G. Harris*' absence was accounted for by an attack of the prevailing epidemic. The rules for the Junior Cup matches were passed, and the Committee decided to commence a senior championship competition, giving one point for a win and half a point for a draw. They also decided that these senior matches should commence each Saturday at 3 p.m., and if any teamengaged is not prepared to play within, five minutes of that time, the referee shalfchave power to award tbe score to the other team by default, a majority of points at the end of tho season to decide the championship.. The Christ's College Clubwas admitted to the Union, It was decided that ara official notice hoard be placed at Mes3i3 Davies and Lamb's establishment.. Tbis concluded the business.
