MUSICAL SCHOLARSHIPS.
AUCKLAND, Nov. 28. An unexpected difficulty has arisen ia regard to the musical scholarships proposed to be established by the Amateur Opera Club. The regulations of the University College require that students shall keep terms in three subjects, but the conditions framed by the donors of the scholarships Btate that those entering for them will be aßked to keep terms in only one subject— in that of music. That one subject has accordingly been referred by the College Council to the Board of Governors. SIR F. WHITAKER. Sir F. Whitaker has gone to the Akoroire district for the benefit of his health. SYMPATHY. At the meeting of creditors of Tonics and Carr, a general feeling of sympathy was shown towards the bankrupts. A motion that their furniture should be givon to them was left in abeyance. SUPPOSED BROWNING. A man named James Petereen, a gumdigger, is missing from the Henderson district, and is eupposed to have been drowned.
