A Hard Case.
An ex-dancer at the Vienna Opera is the heroine of a case which ia dividing 1 judicial ' opinion in Austria. She was dismissed for ' having loßt her attractivenees, and there- : fore claimed the pension granted in cases , of absolute incapacity to 'aopean The ] polite managers, however, assured her that her looks had not gone off so much as all , that, and that therefore th( j y could not ■ think of granting the pension. They argued that she was only relatively in-' capable, which means that she is capable : of appearing at provincial theatres but not at Vienna. Two exports — happy men : — have been appointed to decide on the ; lady'e looks; and they will indeed be brave if the dancer does not return to the boards of the Opera. The explanation of this : dispute lies in the fact that' the corps de, ballet which appears at the Coart Opera ia Vienna is pre-eiainent, so it ia said, above all the ballets in the world for youth, beauty and grace. In that case, -what a pity it is that Vienna lies so far away. But may not Vienna be persuaded to spare ita corps de lallet for a Beacon while ifc makes the grand- tour?
