Accidents and Fatalities.
AT LTTTELTON. Yesterday, shortly after noon, a man named "Watson foil off the No. 2, or Steamers- wharf, into the* water. He was walking outside a row of loaded trucks, with two cages of birds in his hands, when he lost his balance and fell, striking the pile in the fall. He was got out and taken to Dr G. A. Lewiß, who found that the right shoulder was dislocated and the right cheek badly bruised. The birds were drowned. During tbe afternoon, Mr William Slater, yard foreman on the railway at Lyttelton, met with a serious accidont. He was riding on a truck, when he collided with No. 3 weighing-house, the ridge of the building striking the top of his head with great N force, and knocking him off tho waggon. He fell against the grease-box of the waggon, which inflicted a bad bruise on the unfortunate fellow's back. He was taken to Dr Guthrie, who attended to the injuries, and found a deep cut on the head. We Jhope soon to see Mr Slater recovered from his injuries.
