The opinions expressed were to the effect that, in thie interests- of speculators and investors. $t was highly desirable a hew course shoold be adopted in reference to the quoting'*^ stocks. In the first place, it was held that the present quotations (which' were- -Ui several caseß merely nominal) were xnisleading to the public. What was jreAlljr required was a system under wl^ioh. buyers and sellers could operate at tha prices given in the official list of qnotatiohk. To secure this desideratum it was-c6b-sidered that the beat plan wonld be for the exchange, in issuing its daily list, to eflf quote the prices of those stooks at which members might offer . to operate' when on 'Change. When, as at the present tune, very little business was doing, the Satchange could publish in its weekly list the nominal prices - (buyers and sellers) oC several stocks in which not mnch was being done, as a guide to investors residing in the coantry. As business improves, tha Exchange contemplate making several further changes, with a view to rendering the institution as popular and reliable iv possible.
