The usual weekly meeting of the Committee of the Pioneer Club was held last evening, when business in connection with the approaching race meeting, commencing on Boxing Day, was transacted. Mr Parker presided, and stated that members were working zealously to ensure the success of the venture. He also detailed the result of an interview with the Traffic Manager, rp excursion trains. It was decided to write to Mr Garstin, asking to have the departure of the Bangiora and Ashburton trains delayed 1 one hour on each of the three days. - ■ Mr Cooper, on behalf of the Advertising Committee, atated that placards and posters would be ready in a day or two. The question of dividing the programme for each day was considered, and a draft prepared. The opinion was unanimously expressed that Boxing Day should be made the people's day, and the programme arranged accordingly. A letter was read from W. Q. Hurst, of Melbourne, offering to give an exhibition of one-wheel aerial riding on each day of the meeting, and stating terms. The offer wag declined. The question of running off the Fifty-mile Road Baoe was mooted ; but; as it is evident all interest) is now being centred in racing the Australians, it will probably not take place until the autumn. Several other matters of lass importance were left over until next Monday.
