Merriment j umped away with the lead, which he maintained for half the distance, when Rudolph closed up and raced the leader to the entrance to the straight. When fairly in the home stretch Rudolph looked all over a winner ; but within the distance Merriment came again, and catching Rudolph at every stride, won a grand race by a length. Time^-lmin 43£seo.
