The Standard says the Australian artizans will find that while nominally helping the Dock labourers they have really been playing into the hands of Socialist agitators. At a meeting of the general Committee ©f the Christchurch Working Men's Club, held on Wednesday evening, a vote of sympathy was unanimously passed in favour of those suffering from the great strike in connection with the Dock Companies in England. It was also resolved to open a subscription list in the Club for the above purpose, and that the President of the Club wait upon Mr Wynn-Williams (who had written to the Committee to further the movement) ; any sum subscribed to be paid over to the Mayor of the city, in conjunction with other contributions for the same purpose to be forwarded to England.
