DROWNED.
AUCKLAND, Sept. 12. A girl named Barbara Walsh, eleven years-ofage, has been accidentally drowned in theMangitangi river, near Mercer. RETURNING CHINESE. WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. The steamer Whampoa, which leaves here for Hongkong on Monday, takes 150 ■Chinese, only a few of whom are 'expected to return. The Whampoa also takes 1700 tons of Weeitport coal.
