SUGAR SALE AT DUNEDIN.
High Prices. [Pa Fbkbs Association.] DUNEDIN, June 20. The local sngar market has not been so excited for many years as at present. Great interest was taken in the sale of a portion of the cargo ex D'Artagan. There was a very large attendance of the trade, and bidding throughout was brisk. The entire cargo submitted was Bold at the following prices (in bond) :— Finest grey crystals, JBB6 to £36 ss. Fine to finest whites up to £36 15a. A few lines brewers' crystals, ex Lorna Doone, were quitted at from £53 10s to JE34 10s. A fortnight ago sugar sold here at auction at from .£22 to £24, 10s. Those who understand the pulsations of the sugar market say that prices will go higher yet, owing to the scarcity of the article. It is stated that the consignees of the D'Artagan's cargo netted a profit of .£3OOO.
