POLICE COURT.

CHEISTCHUECH. This Dat. (Br-fore It. Wettenra, and E. C. Skcg, Eaqs.) Drunkenness. —Lily Thompson, an old offender, was charged with being drunk yesterday. She admitted the offence, and asked for liberty, as one of her two children was laid up with diphtheria, and had no one to look after it. The Bench considered this a monstrous state of affairs, and asked Sergeant-Major M'Donald to enquire into it and report on the truth of the woman's statement. They accordingly remanded her on her own recognisances, to appear on Saturday morning.
