The Wareatea Disabled.

I .EESCIIE J3Y THE PENGUIN.

The-*tJnion^Steamship Company's steam, collier Wareatea was towed into Port tbia, morning- bythe-Tsteamer Penguin, her pro-' peller shaft having broken when she wag some distance this side of Cape Campbell. 1 Captain Lambert supplies the following particulars of the voyage : — Left Weßtport at 1.30 pan. on Tuesday with 480 tonß of coal, and experienced fine weather with' smooth sea until Cape Campbell wag, abeam, when the wind came away from the northward and blew pretty fresh, raising a modorate sea. When the vessel was about twenty-five miles to the southward her propeller shaft broke, and in consequence she was disabled. Set sail to steady her, but she -rolled fearfully in the sea way. A watch was set to keep a look-out for the lights of a passing steamer, and shortly Alter the breakdown the lights of the Penguin were -seen coming as from astern. Sockets were sent up, and at 8.30 p.m. the Penguin took the disabled boat in tow, and. Lyttelton was reached without any further mishap." The break in the propeller is well aft, and a little water was taken in, which, however, was easily kept down by the pumps. As soon as she has discharged her coal she will be placed in the Graving Dock, and the repairs, will occupy something like sue days. <
