Parliament Out of Session. — The Hon E. Richardson will to-night address his constituents in the HangiorA Literary Institute ; to-morrow he will address them in the Oddfellows' Hall Kaiapoi. Hotel Changes. — It is understood that the license of the Club Hotel at Sangiora is shortly to be transferred from Mr Kountree to Mr W. Taylor, at present licensee of the Junction Hotel at Ohoka. East Malvebn Road Board. — The voting for the election of members of the East Malvern Eoad Board ou Tuesday resulted as follows : — Messrs J. Fraser, W. Minchin, E. Scarlett, G. Rutherford, and J. P. Barr. Miss Ackebman.— The subject of Miss Ackerman's lecture to-night will be " Alaska, the Land of the Bising Sun." This afternoon a meeting for women will be held in the Oddfellows' Hall, commencing at half-past two. * Ma jor-Genebal STBANGE.-Major-General Strange, who has recently retired from thew, Imperial Artillery, and who is now travelLing with the Maxim gun, visited Ly ttelton yesterday, and was shown over the guns, '. &c, at Fort Jervois.by Captain Taylor, of I th» Permanent Artillery. The ex-Imperial . army officer has a Maxim gun at Ly ttelton, i and will probably have a trial with the ' weapon some tioio next week. In Paris a big Company has a mono- j poly of the funerals.
