j Mr Wright would say that the expenses should not exceed £100 a year. Mr Sanndera hoped the resolution would not be carried. If the salaries of the Inspectors were to be raised, the salary of the Secretary should bo increased in proportion. Mr Chrystall assured Mr Saunders that the Secretary had no foaling in the matter. . The Inspectors were highly efficient men, ! rind would be by no means over-paid were Mr Wright's motion agreed to. Mr Weston supported the motion, which wa* agreed to, Mr Saunders alone voting against it. BICCA.RTON. The Rev C. Bowen waited on. the Board in connection with some expendiI ture incurred by the Committee, and explained the circumstances. The Buildings Committee reported that they, in company with Professor Biekerton, had inspected and thoroughly investigated the East Christchurch school buildings. The report and additional reporb were adopted. With regard to the East Christchurch school, Mr Weston thought the Board should do something to show the head-masters that they should supervise the condition of their schools. He could not help thinking that tho head-uiDster of the Ea&t Christchurch school was very much to blame. Mv Wright pointed out that the primary cause of the bad state of things was the untrapped condition of the sewers, and of thi3 neither the head-master nor the Committee had any knowledge. No doubt a more liberal application of soap and water to the floors waa required, and the floors Ehould be scrubbed at least once a month, not only three times a year as hitherto. The Board resolved to ask the local Committee whether the head-meater had reported to them the unsaliafactory condition of the buildings. The local Committee was authorised to have the necessary work done without delay. API'OINTarENTB COHHITTISE.
