The Church Board of Property, in concert with the Commissioners of the Presbyterian Synod, ha,vo Tananimously resolved to recommend to the University Council, the appointment ot J Mr Halkctt Daweon; formerly Kector of tho Timaru High School to the chair 3 of .English and Political Economy in the University, and the appointment o£ Mr John W. Salniond, sou oi Dr Salmond, to the chair of Constitutional History. The appointments are only temporary. There were four applicants for the English chair, tbree for that of Political Economy, and eight for that of Constitutional History.
