A special meeting of the Timaru Harbour Board was held yesterday for the annual election of Chairman, and other business ; present— Messrs Acton, Butter, Boss, Wilson, Flatman, Teschemaker, Morris; Grey, and Captain Woollcombe. The town members were appointed a Standing Committee, and the day of meeting fixed for the third Wednesday in the month. The circular from' the Oamaru Borough Council re consolidation of public Corporations loanß was approved and commended to the favourable consideration of the local members. After a long, discussion it was resolved — "That the Titan be sufficiently repaired to obtain a certificate for a year, until the Board can" get a new tug from England, and that a new tug be at once obtained." Mr Gray strongly^ opposed this motion, holding that the Titan is good enough to serve for years, and that there will j&e no work for a tug when | the North mole is completed, moat of the j work at Timaru" being steamer work. It was also resolved to inquire of the Union Company on what terms they would aot as the Board's agents at Home, and to ask their Consulting Engineer to advise the Board whether a paddle boa,t_or ft-twia.
