Court of Appeal.
THE RENATA KAWEPO. WILL CASE. WELLINGTON, Nov. 20. In the Appeal Court, argument in the will case was resumed by Mr Harper, who contended that the weight of the evidence showed the documents to be a testamentary deposition of Renata's property on Airini and her kinsfolk, to the exclusion of Broughton, and the entire revocation of the former will. He submitted that the word " Wiri " in the document meant that all teatator's property be willed to Airini and her people. Mr Harper finished this morning. Mr Chapman, referring to the Archdeacon's reported loss of memory, submitted that his evidence was more worthy of credence than that of the Maoris, who were interested parties. Counsel concluded by submitting that, fortified as the making of the will was by the subsequent declaration of Renata, it must be regarded as the last testament of the dead chief. Mr Haggitt having briefly replied, Mr Justice Richmond said the Court would consider their judgment.
