MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

CHEISTCEURCH. This Day. (Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., E.M.) Drunkenness. — A first offender, arrested in Manchester street, was fined 5s and 2s cab-hire.— Another first offender, arrested on the Lincoln road, was also mulcted in tho usual penalty. The Bicycle Nuisance. — James Troupe, for riding his bicycle on a footpath of Linwocd, was fined ss. Maintenance Cases. — Annie Johnston charged Neil Peter Johnston with tailing to provide her and his four children ivith adequate means of support. Complainant appeared, and said two of her children were fourteen and ten years old respectively, but the elder of them was unable to work, and that she could do nothing herself. Her husband lived at Havelock, and she believed earned a living by working a punt acroas the river. Tho Bench made an order for defendant to pay £1 a week towards the support of his family. — Emily Louisa Larcombe accused her husband, Henry Larcombe, with cruelty without adultery, and she asked for a protection order and tho custody of her two children, sged four and a half and three years. Mr Joynt appeared for the wife ; Mr WynnWilliams for the husband. Counsel ag*reed to an adjournment of the case, which was set down for hearing on Nov. 12.
