The weekly returns of the Bank of England, published to-day, show the total reserve in notes and bullion at J611;950,000, and the proportion of reserve to liabilities at 40 per cent, being an increase of !£ 745,000 on the total reserve, and an increase of 4 per cent in the proportion of reserve to liabilities. | Si;pt. 21. At to-day's wool sales 10,009 bales i were catalogued. Scoured merinos sold at from §d to Id dearer, with the exception of , New Zealand lots. Locks were weaker; greasy, fd dearer. Inferior scoured crossbreds declined fd. ITew consols are at 99. 1 PABIS, Sept. 21. M. IFlocpiet has announced that the Government have decided not to suspend the import duty on cereals.
