Mr Bishop's Candidature.

« TO THE EDITOR. Sib, — Be Mr Fred. Hobbs' letter in this morning's J*yttelton Times. If Mr Bishop cannot vote, &c, as he (Mr Hobbs) says, I want to know why he wishes to be in the Council just now, when the gas question is under consideration, and the majority' of the Council are desirous of reducing its gas bill— the large sum of £2000. One would have thought that this was not the time for a gentleman of honour, of integrity, of common sense, of righteous judgment, to seek the confidence and look after the interests of the ratepayers. There ianot much honour- now-a-days, it<is said. Wait till the gaß question is settled.— l am, &c, BURGESS.
