The Totalisator.
<• MEETING TO-DAY. An influential private meeting of business people was held at the City Council Offices to-day, to consider the position of the totalisator, and it was unanimously resolved — "That the totalisator is a growing evil and a serious hindrance to trade, and that its abolition should be recommended to Parliament, and that a subcommittee be appointed to bring up a resolution and a report — such report to f oral' the basis of a petition to Parliament, and the same to be submitted to an-ad-journed meeting, to be held at the same place, at 7.30 pan. oh Tuesday next."
