A.O.F.— The Foresters of Court Southern CroEs, No. 3123, Timaru, celebrated their twenty-third anniversary last evening by a banquet, at which some 70 persons were presont. Among the invited guests were His Worship the Mayor (Mr Jonas), Bro Turnbull, M.H.K., and representatives of kindred societies. Capital speeches were made, and Bro Jacob Hill, D.C.E., drew special attention to the rating of Friendly Societies' buildings, whichhe thought there should not be. Mr Turnbull, in the course of his speech, pointed out that these halls were often conjoined with Bhops, &c. The balance-sheet showed that the Court was in a mo3t flourishing, indeed wealthy, state. Deuidism. — The quarterly summoned meeting of the Anchor Lodge, No. 120, U.A.0.D., was held on Wednesday last at the Oddfellows' Hall, Woolston. There was a large attendance of members, and the Arch Druid, Bro A. W. Hancock, presided. Bros Hill and Isaacs, P.A. of tho Pioneer Lodge, and Bro Foster, of the Hope of Sb Albans, were also present during the evening. Correspondence was read from the Grand Secretary, notifying the appointment of Bro H. B. Davis, of this Lodge, to the distinguished position of District President of No. 20 district. Tho installation of Bro Davis was conducted by the retiring D.P., Bro Logan, who, in handing over ths insignia of his office, impressed on his successor the duties and obligations of his position ; he, at the same time, returned the Lodge his thanks for the kindness and courtesy which had always been extended to him. On the motion of the P.D.P., Bro Penfold, a hearty vote of thanks wa** passed by acclamation to Bro Logan for his services, and no doubt a more tangible reward will follow. The Arch Druid then called upon P.A. Bro Hill, D.P. elect of No. 13 district, to perform the most pleasant duty of the evening, that of presenting P.A. Bro T. Maindonald with a very handsome P.A. diploma for the many and varied services rendered to the Lodge. In making the presentation, Bro Hill referred to the object of presentations, and hoped that the present recipient would long be a member of the Ancient Order. Bro Maindonald replied, thanking .the Lodge for their handsome present, and assured the Lodge that he would always endeavour to forward the interests of the Order. Bro Rhodes moved the notice of motion standing in his name, viz. — " That the Lodge's anuiversary be celebrated by a concert and ball, and that the proceeds be divided between the Juvenile Library and the sick fund of the Adult Lodge." Seconded by j Bro Penfold and carried. Two candidates having been duly elected, were initiated by the A.D., assisted by Bros Davis, Hill, and Penfold. The Lodge having adjourned for harmony, Bros Spring, Maindonald, Selwood, Harris, Hobson, and Goldsmith contributed songs, and Bro E. E. Isaacs one of hia inimitable recitations. Receipts were £47 13s, and the expenditure .£36. The Lodge was closed by the A.D. in the usual manner.
