Ma tor ar. Elections. — The nominations for the City Mayoralty must be made on Monday at noon, and for the Sydenhain Mayoralty on "Wednesday at the same hour. Wesleyan Bazaar. — At a meeting of the Wesleyan Bazaar Committee, held last evening, it was decided to issue halfcrown season tickets, by which visitors could gain admission at any time with the least possible inconvenience. Addresses to Youno Men. — The second of the i-eriea of Practical Addresses to Young Men will be delivered by the Rev John lloatsonto-inorrow evening at Trinity Congregational Churcb, corner of Manchester and Worcester streets. The subject is " Present Pleasure and l''uture Beckon- | ing." The service begins at half-past six, and all seats are free. Kaiafoi Working Mkn's Glut,. — Last evening the anniversary of this Club was celebrated by a members' supper, at the Club rooms in Kaven street. Mr E. Feldwick, President, was in the chair, and Mr J. Coleman in the vice-chair. The attendance vas large, and after supper some capital songs and speeches were given. MAoisTEitiAr,.— At the R.M. Court, this morning, Mr Bcetham sent two young aien named Arthur Whitehead and William Croton to gaol for forty-eight hours for being found in a house at the corner of Park terrace and Kilmore street, the property of Mrs Tancred. They stated they were out of work, and had no money to pay for lodgings. Fire Brigade Demonstration. — Arrangements have beon made for a systematic canvass of the city and suburbs in aid of the fundß of the United Fire Brigades demonstration. Districts have been marked down and canvassers appointed to each. It is to be hoped that the result will be as satisfactory as the most ardent supporters of the Association could wish. Kaiai-oi EiFiiES.— Last evening, this Company, under Captain Whitefoord, underwent their yearly inspection by Lieutenant-Colonel Lean. The parade state showed forty-seven rifles and fortyone cadets. Prior to inspection the men were exercised by Major Newall. Colonel Lean expressed himself as pleased with the drill and appearance of the corps and the state of their arms and accoutrements. Class firing, under Sergeant- Major Barritt, will continue to-day. Curious 'Aquatic Growth, — At the offices of the Australian Mutual Provident Society a peculiar growth, apparently of some water weed, has forced its way through the bottom of a concrete tank Gin in thickness. The stem of the weed is about the thickness of a lead pencil, and attached to it is about lift Gin of a band 2in wide, of fibrous roots, bearing a resemblance tohalfpreparedflaxfibre. Several gardeners have been unable to name the plant, which is apparently one of Rome aquatic species. Skrigus AccmexT. — A sad accident happened about eleven o'clock this morning to a boy named Sydney Gardiner, fourteen years of age, the son of Mr Gardiner, of Gardiner and M'Donald, theatrical agents. He was riding along the Ferry road, and when near Lancaster Park his horse, which is said to have been, only parbially broken, bolted, ran into a,barbedwire fence, and fell with the boy underneath him. The lad who had apparently fallen on his head, was rendered unconscious. He was picked up by some paGsersby aad taken in a carh to his home, where he wa3 attended by Dr Hunt, who ascertained that no limbs were broken. The extent of the injuries to the boy's head cannot yet be determined, and up to a late hour this afternoon he had not recovered consciousness. The horse was badly cut and scratched by the barbs of the fence.
