Lyttelton Orphanage. — The monthly Band of Hope meeting in connection with this institution was held last Wednesday evening, when, in addition to the inmates, there was a large attendance of visitors. A ! very attractive programme waa presented, j and among the items calling for special i mention were recitations by Miss Matthews : and Master Butterfield, from Christchurch ; duets by Mr Brownlee and Mrs Chambers, a dialogue capitally rendered by three of the orphans, several glees by the Orphanage choir, and a selection by the band. The increasing interest taken in these meetings far exceeds the most sanguine expectations of the promoters, and the spirit with which one and all enter into the work speakß volumes for the continued ! success of the movement.
