WELLINGTON, Sept. 22,

The Benevolent Trustees have refused the £230 obtained from the Jubilee fete by Friendly Societies for building an Orphanage. There are only thirty- fivo children in their charge, and the boardingout system is considered to be much cheaper and more conducive to tho happiness of the children. Of the thirty-iive, only ten are really orphans ;'; the rest have been deserted by their parents.
