LAND BOARD.
The usual meeting of the Board was held yesterday, at which Messrs J. H. Baker, Lee, M'Millan and O'Callaghan were present. A. telegram was readfrom the Under-Secretary of Crown Lands, Btafcing that a3 the limit (150) of Village Settlements had been reached, that for the present no more applicationu could be received. The Board, in consequence, refused five applications for settlements. It was reported that Section GS3, quarter-acre of the Arowhenua Village Settlement had been sold on deferred payment to David Bryan, and Section 781, on the same terms to Patrick Manning. Five deferred payment applications were ordered to stand over for the Banger's report, and two others were refused. It was decided to recommend the Government to put up for lease about eight acres of the Little River Tram Reserve, and to resoi've one acre of the same ground for a pound for the Tai Tapu Road Board. The Chief Commissioner handed in a list of sections in which the land when surveyed was found to be in excess of that paid for. The Board ordered one month's notice requiring payment to be given for the surplus, and. giving notice that failing payment it would be cut off atowner's expense. The Banger's report on five village special settlements and one deferred payment settlement was read and considered satisfactory. The Receiver of Land Revenue handedin a report showing that 15V deferred payment selectors were
in arrears with their payments. The Board ordered that notices be sent to the holders requiring immediate payment. . After some tontine business the meeting I adjourned.
