— ♦ — : — Branch Meeting at Woolston A numerously attended meeting of the Woolatou branoh of the Canterbury Electors* Association w«a held last evening at she Oddfellows' Hall, Woolston, to arrange ietailsof the Committee work in the disjriot, and discuss matters connected with she forthcoming eleotions. Mr Robert M'Diarmid was eleoted Chairman of the Woolaton Committee. In reference to the meeting of the Political Reform Association, advertised so be held on Tuesday evening, the unanimous feeling was that their delegates ihould be accorded a fair and impartial bearing. On the conoluaion of the Association CJQmmittee buainesß the meeting resolved itself into a 1 Committee meeting to support she re-election of Mr Fzederio Jones as oiember for the Heathcote constituency. Mr Jones, who was present, addressed the meeting, and stated that his platform to-day Ib preoisely the same as when, he was before the electors six months ago,— namely, that he would if re-eleoted continue to give his general support to the present Government on the lines of retrenchment, fair taxation, and encouragement to loo& industries. 3?fee doctors present unanimously conjurred in expressing their entire safciafactlon with Mr Jones' action during the paofc floneion of Parliamenr, and enrolled th*m»elvea«fl members of his Committee, !>ledged to aeouxehia re-election as member or tne district. On the motion of Mr Allan Orr, seconded by Mr Eichard Browm, Mr Herbert B. Davis waf nnanimoußly elected Chairman of Mr JofuW JEJlaotion Committee, and the meeting was adjourned to Monday evening aejct, August 1A hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman conoluded the proceedings.
