MR ROLLESTON AT RAKAIA.

Mr Ivess Attacks Him. [SrECIAL TO THK "STAB."] ASHBUETON, Jult 22. Mr Rolleston addressed a large meeting at Eakaia last night, treating mainly of the subjects he had noticed in hia Ashburton Bpeech. Mr Ivees, at the close, severely criticised Mr Kolleston's views as enunciated in his address, and adversely reviewed Mr Rolleston's Parliamentary action in connection with the West Coast Eailway, the village settlements, the grain tariff, &c. He also twitted him with having- been a Provincial Superintendent, a leader in Parliament, a representative of a great metropolitan constituency, and yet now with such a record he was found wandering over a country electorate without a single friend, and that, too, a constituency which had returned a member to help in turning out of power the party of which Mr Rolleston was a member. With the exception of this attack, to which Mr Rolleston declined to reply, owing to its personal nature, Mr Rolleston was well received, and also got a vote of thanks.
