Mr Chrystall moved — " That in the opinion of this meeting the facts elicited in. connection with the berthing and discharge of the Northumberland show that :in the harbour works the interests of ! importers have been sacrificed in order to facilitate the loading of vessels at the Steamers' wharf, and the Committee of this Chamber be requested to confer with J the Harbour Board, with a view to the making of suck arrangements as shall hereafter facilitate the discharge of inward cargo with the least possible expense."
