Meeting of Consignees.
- — ♦ — THE SHIP NORTHUMBERLAND. ' THIS DAY. i ! A a adjourned meeting of the consignees of the ship Northumberland was held this ! morning at the Chamber of Commerce. , There was an attendance of abont a dozen, aad the Chair tow taken by Mr J. Cooke. Mr Chrystall moved — " That in the opinion of this meeting the facts elicited in. connection with the berthing and discharge of the Northumberland show that :in the harbour works the interests of ! importers have been sacrificed in order to facilitate the loading of vessels at the Steamers' wharf, and the Committee of this Chamber be requested to confer with J the Harbour Board, with a view to the making of suck arrangements as shall hereafter facilitate the discharge of inward cargo with the least possible expense." In speaking to the resolution Mr Chrystall j mentioned that while merchandise contributed about Jf#ooO to the wharfago, grain and wool contributed no more than about jBSOOO. j Mr Williams seconded the motion, which, was carried unanimously. | This dosed the hijsines?,
