WEST CHRISTCHURCH.
The annual meeting of the householders was held last night. There was a very large attendance, and Mr George Booth was vote*d to the chair. The schools continue to enjoy the popularity gained through many years of successful teaching, as is evidenced by the increasing numbers of scholars who attend them. A ccmpirison of attendances shows the following result : — On roll, quarter ending March, 1887, 1750 — average, 1457 ; quarter ending March, 188G, 1667 — average, 1363; total increase, 89 — average, 9*4. A retrospect for five years showing increased average attendance as follows : — Average, quarter ending March, 1887, 1457; quarter ending March, 1882, 992 j . increased average in five yearfe, 475. The balance-sheet submitted with the books for audit by the Board of Education Auditor, oontained the following totals : Receipts, .£3550 15s sd; expenditure, .£3433 7s 9d, leaving a balance of .£ll7 7s 8d for ) 886. The following were elected the Committee ■- — Messrs D. Reese, W. K. Allison, A. R. Kirk, J. Vendbleß, J. Wendelken, J. Munnings, and F. G. Hawley. The Committee met and re-elected aa Chairman Mr F. G. Hawley.
