At the Police Court, Charles Davidson, Alexander M'Phereon, and George Moore were charged at the instance of Captain Ross, of the brigantine Myrtle, with impeding tbe progress of the voyage of the vessel at Lyttelton on March 2. Tbe men had refused to finish loading the vessel after 6 p.m. Dr Laishley, for the defence, ' submitted that there was no combination to the danger of the ship and cargo as charged. Also that no Gazette had been handed in, and no proof given that the Myrtle was a British ship. The Bench dismissed the action on the technical point raised, and allowed tbrae guineas c >sts.
