Cattle.— A moderate number of fat cattle were yarded, and some very nice steers and heifers made the average Quality pretty good The demand was -rather brisker than last week, bu*> the improvement in values waa ao Blight aa to be hardly quotable. The heifers mentioned were from the Lowoliffe Estate, and aold at £&los-t0.£5 15a. A line of steers brought £0 10b, and another line £9 15a, the latter being the top price of tho market. Beef per 1001 b was worth 17s 6d for prime, 15a to 16a for ordinary. Store oattle were in very poor demand, and a large proportion were withdrawn, the offers showing a fill of 10a per head on three-year-olds from reoent **alues, younger ages in proportion. Fat oalvea ■were nnohanged. Shbbp.— The supply was not nearly np to the average in either numbers or quality, and the market waa extremely dull, showing certainly na improvement on last week. There waa no demand for sheep for freezing. The Lowoliffe oroBS-bred wethers topped the market at Pa 6d; oth— good lines Belling from 6a 6d to 83; lighter and ewes from 3b upwards. In merino wethers the Valetta consignment matte the top quotation of ss ; the other pens of the draft averaging 4a. Mr Greenwood's (Amberley) merinos also averaged 4a. We quote cross-bred mutton irom lid for extra quality, down to id for ewes • ptime merino, |d to ld. Fat lambs brought barely last week'a values, tho best penß realising C_ to 7s ; fair ahop lambs, Sa ; middling qualities and stores down to 2s 6d.
