SACRIFICED BY THEIR INVENTION.
A painful accident took place on the Seine, at Asnieres. Two persona of a scientific turn, M. Buisson and M. Ciurciu, lately bought a boat, for which they constructed a boiler and steam apparatus of their own invention. They used petroleum instead of coal to produce the steam, and wishing to test their experiments, they invited some friends to witness their movements from the banks of the river. Hardly, however, had they left the wharf than a terrific detonation was heard, and the spectators on the bank were horrified to see the little Bteamboat blown to atoms. After the smoke had cleared away, M. Ciurciu, one of the inventors, was eeen striking out for the shore, his face streaming with blood. He wa3 taken on a small steamer, and his companion was afterwards found in the river, still alive, but mutilated beyond debcriptiori. His rescuers had only time to put him oa shore when he expired. The body of a boy who acted aa stoker in the boat has not yet been discovered. M. Buisson, who ha 3 met such a fearful and untimely fate, was for some time Director of the Havas News Agency at Bucharest. He left it to devote himself to scientific pursuits.
