Lyttelton Picnic.
MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE.
The arrangements for the annual picnic in connection with the tradespeople of Lyttelton are being forced along at a pretty brisk rate ; and judging from the amount of interest taken in the fixture this year, it will outdo its predecessors by a very long way. A largely attended meeting of the Committee was held in the Colonists' Hall on Tuesday night, when the Chairman, Mr J. B. Milsom, occupied the chair, and stated : that he had, with the Secretary, Mr J. T. | Brice, inspected the proposed site for holding the picnic, at Carleton, and had found suitable grounds, r &c, in close vicinity to the flour-mill of Meesrs Wood, Sinclair and Co. The river runs close by the grounds, and there are plenty of light boats to be procured for boating. Mr W. D. Wood has kindly consented to allow the visitors to have the use of his private grounds during the day. It was decided to write to the Borough School Committee, asking for a holiday forthe children on the day of fie picnic, Thursday, Feb. 24. The tender of the Lyttelton Oddfellowß' Band was accepted. The price of 'tickets was made 3s each, which should be suitable to all. The Committee of the Norwich Quay Land Sports have handed over several prizes, which were in their possession, and these, with other prizes, will make up a good programme of sports for the day. After doing other unimportant businesa the meeting adjourned.
