A MAORI MURDER. GISBORNR, Jan. 31. A man named Dawson, fii^u^ed on the -iarbour works, met with a serious accident this afternoon. He was working at the viaduct extension, when the scaffolding gave way, Dawßon falling some distance on the rocks. lie lies in a critical condition. A report reached town thia afternoon that a Maori man and woman had been mrdered at a place some distance out of ,:>wn by some other Natives. The cause if the alleged murder is that they had been beating other Nati-es. The police are making enquiries, but up to the present no authentic information is to hand.
