This Day. (Before R. Beetham, Esq., R.M., R. Weßtenra and W. White, Esqs.) FalBE Pretences. — Margaret Mary Belinda Todd was charged with obtaining board and lodging, amounting in value to £9, on Dec. 20, at Christchurch, from Maude Reffles. The accused admitted the charge. Mr Pender said that the woman went to the Prison Gate Mission Home and represented that she was getting money out from Home, and by means of these statements obtained board and lodging to the amount stated ; and besides this obtained the admission of a woman named Lake on the Bame assurances. There were no less than nine previous convictions since 1870 for the same class of offence, and the Bench held that it was no use cautioning her; Bhe would be sent to gaol for twelve months. Civil Case. — Ethelbert Lodge, No. 99, TLA.O.D. v. Paul Willcox. Adjourned to Feb. 15. — Moor and Co. v. P. Byrne, claim £10 17a 6d. Plaintiff by default.— Ann Williams v. A. Jarman. Adjourned to Feb. 25.— H. E. May and Co. v. A. M. Webb, .£1 11s 4d. Judgment by default.— P. Martin v. D. Dick. Adjourned to Feb. 15. — Henry Jones v. William Moss, claim £2 ss. Judgment for defendant.— D. E. Smith v. G. Alexander, claim 18s 6d. Plaintiff by default.— T.JacobaeH v. A. W. Wright, claim £7 10s. Judgment for amount of claim and costs.
